Human Capability Development for Business Model Innovations
Track 3.2
In our “Get to know our tracks” series of NBM2023, we are delighted to introduce the Track 3.2: ‘‘Human Capability Development for Business Model Innovations’’ chaired by Burçin Hatipoglu (University of New South Wales, Australia) Silvia Cantele (University of Verona, Italy), and Susy di vaio (Univerity of Naples Pathenope, Italy).
According to Prof Burcin, her motivation for attending the NBM 2023 conference, which will be her sixth attendance, is rooted in her desire to continue working in research that supports her belief that all organizations can provide sustainable value to society. She is also looking forward to maintaining and creating connections with like-minded researchers. Prof. Cantele is equally looking forward to working and addressing issues from a multi-disciplinary perspective in order to achieve a greater perspective on how sustainability and business models can be tackled.
Some of the possible contributions identified by our chairs are exploring the contributions of human capability in organizations, such as identifying the role that knowledge, values and personal approaches to sustainability can be relevant and even pivotal to the success of sustainability strategies and initiatives in organizations. Another contribution can be traced to the specific role of Human Resources (like Intellectual Capital) in the development of sustainability as a key pillar in achieving environmental and social sustainability. The NBM environment will further allow these perspectives to be discussed and deepen the knowledge of human capabilities through a multi-theory lens to identify the best accounting and accountability models supporting organizations in the sustainability transition process.
Prof. di Vaio is eager to attend her first NBM conference, where she is proud to be able to share her own knowledge on sustainable business models but also learn from the NBM community as well. She is especially hopeful that the conference will be a great opportunity to acquire new insights into the social impact of research. The team invites all those PhD candidates to submit their work under this track in order to help inspire both researchers and practitioners to understand the value of employees as key stakeholders for sustainable initiatives. They emphasize that research on this topic can better address the social dimension of sustainability in organizations by extending the knowledge of the relationship between business models and human, social and relational capital.
Finally, Prof. Di Vaio is determined to make this track “the NBM track” for management and accounting scholars to discuss the dynamic capabilities of the human side of business models. Emphasizing the innovation and sustainability that can arise according to a circular approach.
We encourage all those interested in this field, to submit their work and join us in this important conversation on this conference track.
