In the intellectual domain of contemporary academia, the International Conference on New Business Models (NBM) has distinguished itself as a leading forum for advancing discourse on sustainable business models. As we embark upon its 10th edition, this conference represents not merely a chronological milestone, but a testament to the unwavering commitment to expanding the frontiers of knowledge and fostering solutions in the realm of sustainable business practices. The NBM conference serves as a scholarly nexus where academics, researchers, and practitioners converge to engage in rigorous exploration of pressing global issues, while championing pioneering research in the dynamic field of sustainable business models.

The NBM2025 unfolds within a socio-economic landscape defined by escalating complexities and uncertainties, where the need for sustainable business modeling has never been more critical. The megatrends shaping our world—climate change, natural resource depletion, demographic shifts, and the technological-digital revolution—demand profound, transformative changes, underpinned by diverse forms of innovation. It is within this context that sustainable business models play an integral role in facilitating the intertwined digital, green, and inclusive transitions.

The technological and digital revolution is profoundly reshaping industrial sectors, transforming the nature of goods, services, and processes across public and private organizations alike. Novel business models, driven by digitalization, automation, and cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence, big data, robotics, and additive manufacturing, are redefining industry and society. However, these technology-driven innovations must not only disrupt existing paradigms but also embed values such as human dignity, equality, security, and fundamental rights into their frameworks.

The urgency of the climate crisis has galvanized a collective awareness of the necessity for rapid and far-reaching systemic change to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. This pivotal goal is unattainable without a paradigm shift from "business-as-usual" to sustainable business models that champion the circular economy, eco-innovation, and foster the creation of green jobs.

Furthermore, the digital and green transitions must be inclusive and equitable, ensuring that people are at the center of these transformations. As we navigate these transitions, we must prioritize business models that address intergenerational challenges, promote diversity in all its forms, facilitate (inter-)cooperation, and generate shared social value. The cultivation of values that empower individuals to actively engage in social transformation is paramount.

Over the years, this conference has established a robust and expanding academic community dedicated to advancing the field of sustainable business models. At NBM2025, we remain committed to fostering a platform for intellectual exchange, where science, technology, innovation, and society converge to shape resilient, green, and inclusive business models. These models will pave the way for a future that is not only more sustainable but also more equitable and prosperous for all.

We eagerly anticipate welcoming you to the Faculty of Business Administration at the University of Iceland for what promises to be another exceptional edition of the New Business Models Conference!
